DJ Sandman, a San Francisco Bay Area lifelong native, has been rockin' the turntables since 1996 spinning various styles of music throughout the years which he continues to this day. Having grown up with a musically eclectic childhood, he learned to appreciate many different styles ranging from Hip-hop to Electronic to Classical which reflects widely through his sets. Starting with Hip-hop which remains a style and culture he loves even today, he would spin at various house parties thrown by friends from school as well as their friends. Around mid to late 1997 he was into doing various mobile gigs which also exposed to the electronic aspect which would encompass styles such as house, trance, breaks, drum & bass, and jungle. These styles allowed him to expand what he played and reach to a wider audience. During this time he was also doing gigs with a group of friends who were DJs as well under the crew name 1200 STYLEZ. 1997 was also the year he met DJ Streak who at the time was doing club gigs and even Mcing at import car shows. After meeting him and the rest of his crew Supernatural Turntable Artists whom he had met each randomly at a record shop he would frequent practically every week, he had been exposed to turntablism and was hooked for life. Sandman spent the next few years doing gigs and recording mixes having moved to CDs after slanging tapes since high school. In 2001 he joined Spintronix Entertainment doing various college and high school parties as well as any events that required a DJ. 2006 was a pivotal year in that Sandman began to tap into the Anime Convention circuit in California. In fact his first gig with a convention turned out to be Anime Expo, known as the largest anime convention in the united states. There he met the people whom he would join together with to form the notorious convention DJ crew, The Random DJs of which he has been a part of to present day. Generally a pretty happy go lucky, calm, and collected person, Sandman is always open to meeting new people as well as spending time going to movies, traveling, going to anime conventions & comic conventions, and many other fun things.
